His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman names ACWA Power’s 100-bed hospital after Nujood Al-Khaibari

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Madinah Al Munawarah, 09 July 2020: In honor of martyr Nujood Al-Khaibari – the first Saudi nurse to lose the fight against COVID-19 while performing her job - HRH Prince Faisal Bin Salman, Prince of Madinah Province, dubbed ACWA Power’s social contribution “Nujood Medical Center” in the inauguration ceremony of the hospital, witnessed by HE Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister of Health. Located in Al Madinah Al Munawarah, Nujood Medical Center has a capacity of 100 beds.

His Excellency continued to commend ACWA Power’s social initiative by saying: “We take pride in a national company such as ACWA Power. We are deeply proud of our frontline workers in the Ministry of Health who were guided by Dr. Tawfiq.”
We take immense pride today in serving Prophet Mohammad’s city by adding 100 beds to King Fahad’s Hospital. This is undoubtedly, a unique contribution by ACWA Power, led by the energy sector under the directives of HE Prince AbdulAziz bin Salman. The national energy sector played a prominent role in bolstering the efforts of the Ministry of Health during the pandemic through ACWA Power’s contribution, a series of donations and supplying the equipment needed to tackle this pandemic

Abunayyan confirmed that this social contribution comes within ACWA Power’s social responsibility towards the people of Saudi Arabia and in response to the wise leadership, who have gone above and beyond to ensure all precautionary measures are taken to combat the pandemic at the earliest stages, to safeguard the lives of our citizens and residents.
Abunayyan continued saying: “The inauguration of the fully equipped hospital is a result of robust public-private partnerships, which allowed us to fulfil our mission and provide a fully equipped facility with the latest and most advanced equipment to supplement the efforts of the medical sector in Al Madinah, while also hiring frontline workers to accomplish the job. We are highly grateful to the Ministry of Health that played a crucial role in supporting us through every stage of the hospital implementation.”
ACWA Power completed the social initiative and delivered the medical facility to the Ministry of Energy prior to the scheduled delivery date – in less than 60 days. The initiative was established as a social contribution that falls under the national energy sector’s commitment to support the efforts of the Saudi government and the Ministry of Health in combating the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Kingdom.
The fully equipped facility was developed based on the highest standards of quality and hosts some of the most advanced equipment that were hand-picked to ensure the durability of the hospital, which will be utilised as part of the Ministry of Health’s larger health facilities network after the pandemic comes to an end. The hospital was designed with stringent security and safety measures in mind for its patients as well as medical and administrative staff and the surrounding areas.
Nujood Medical Center is equipped with the latest medical gear and supplies needed to treat COVID-19 cases - including 40 ventilators, two intensive care units, a research laboratory, and medical gas pipeline systems that ensure a safe environment.
The inauguration ceremony of “Nujood Medical Center” witnessed the honoring of ACWA Power’s project team who were responsible for developing, designing and implementing the initiative, alongside representatives of the Ministry of Health and the contracting company.
Abunayyan extended his appreciation to ACWA Power’s partners who contributed to the success of the hospital.
ACWA Power’s pledged contribution was announced at the early stages of the pandemic and falls under the umbrella of the national energy sector’s initiatives to support the government’s Covid-19 relief efforts. Since then, the company has utilised its international expertise and extended its full support towards achieving the swift delivery of the hospital in record time.
